Kia Bennett


Kia is a freelance flautist much in demand as an orchestral player, soloist and chamber musician. She studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, the Royal Northern College of Music and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Kia recently turned down the position of Co-Principal flute with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa to continue her freelance career in the UK, performing with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the BBC Philharmonic as well as the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, The Orion Orchestra, City Side Sinfonia, Kentish Opera, Sinfonia Cymru, the New London Sinfonia, Chelmsford Sinfonietta and the London Mozart Symphony Orchestra.

Conductors Kia has worked with include Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Colin Davis, Gary Walker, Ilan Volkov, James MacMillan, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Vasily Petrenko, Michal Dworzynski, Tomas Netopil and Stéphane Denève.

In addition to these demanding commitments, Kia is also available to play for private recitals and wedding ceremonies as a solo flautist or accompanied by piano, harp or other instrumental combinations.

Despite her busy schedule, Kia still manages to inspire future generations through her teaching of both children and adults.
