Gareth Hamill - Director

Sonorist's Founder and Director, Gareth Hamill, is both a professional musician and businessman with experience in managing quality musical events.

He is a graduate of the Royal College of Music in London where he studied the viola. Gareth’s professional career involved several years in the retail industry before moving into financial services, where he spent seven years developing a successful practice with a major financial services company.

It was during this time that Gareth started to combine his commercial experience and his love of music by organising his successful ‘Music Uncorked’ events – enabling his company’s clients to attend social occasions where they could sample a range of themed wines, selected for the occasion by a professional vintner, whilst enjoying the strains of tasteful music provided by skilled classical musicians.

The success of these events was testified to by the fact that Gareth was asked to provide and oversee the musici for Last Exit's event which was filmed as part of the BBC 2 series Out of the Frying Pan, scheduled for broadcast on Wednesday 12th May, 2010.

Throughout his career Gareth has also performed as a professional musician, both as part of a successful string quartet and as part of larger ensembles. This extensive background enables him to understand the intricacies of arranging professional musical events from a range of perspectives – the client, the coordinator and the performer.
